Penola High School Graduate, Natasha Hutchesson took time out from her studies to spend some time at home this school holidays. This gave Wattle Range Mayor, Peter Gandolfi an opportunity to catch up with Natasha and congratulate her on the receipt of a unique honour.
Enrolled full time in her first year of a Bachelor of Education and Bachelor of Disability Studies degree at Flinders University, Natasha is the only 2014 recipient of the annual Wattle Range Council Hon. Terry Roberts Memorial Scholarship.
The Scholarship was established to recognise the contribution made by former Member of the Legislative Council to South Australia, the Wattle Range Council region and the Millicent community.
Mr Gandolfi said: “Feedback from Flinders University has been very positive and they have acknowledged the value of this continued support from Council, especially for first year rural students.”
Council has been supporting the Scholarship since 2008 by way of providing up to five $1,000 scholarships to assist students from the Wattle Range area to commence undergraduate study at Flinders University. In January it resolved to continue the annual scholarships in this format for a further five years taking it through to 2019.
