Council is calling for expressions of interest from community members as representatives on the Beachport & Surrounds Heritage Advisory Working Group.
Formation of the Working Group is the first step in moving forward with a local heritage survey of Beachport and the surrounding area. Specifically, the Beachport Heritage Survey will identify Local Heritage Places within Beachport and the surrounds, for inclusion in the Council’s Development Plan; and identify areas within the region, which could be declared Historic Conservation Zones/Policy Areas and included in the Development Plan of Council. The main role of the working group will be to provide recommendations during the heritage survey process, and liaise with the selected Heritage Consultant that will undertake the survey.
Membership of the working group shall comprise of up to eight (8) representatives from the community with an interest or expertise in local heritage and a willingness to promote heritage conservation in Wattle Range. Two elected members will be invited to participate in the working group. The South East Heritage Advisor will also form a part of the working group.
The group would meet every second month, from December 2015, for a period of approximately 12 months. The proposed meetings will be held on Tuesday afternoons in Beachport, in association with the South East Heritage Advisors scheduled visits.
