Early Educators Recognised in Memorial Award

2 December 2015

The quality of early education in the Wattle Range Council district was apparent with 5 local educators nominated for the prestigious Dianne Manhood Memorial Award at the annual Limestone Coast Early Years Forum last month.

The Award, sponsored by the Wattle Range Council, was introduced in 2012 in memory of Dianne Manhood, well respected community leader and long serving Director of the Gladys Smith Early Learning Centre.

Recognised for their ‘Commitment to Excellence in Early Years’ were award nominees Jade McDonald of Learning Together, Donna Barber of Millicent North Kindergarten, Teagan Harvey and Naomi Aston of Gladys Smith Early Learning Centre and the 2015 Award recipient Tracey Phillips of McArthur Park Kindergarten.

Tracey, who worked under the guidance of Dianne for a number of years, is a passionate advocate of children and families in the community and inspires innovation in her field. She is the worthy recipient of the $500 prize for on-going professional development and was honoured to receive the accolade.
