A former Air Force Squadron Leader has been appointed as the incoming Wattle Range Council Chief Executive Officer.
Following a special meeting of Council on Wednesday night, Mayor Peter Gandolfi announced that Ben Gower will commence as CEO on April 4.
The appointment follows a recommendation to Council by a five member selection panel made up of the Mayor, Deputy Mayor and three councillors. The panel short-listed approximately 30 applicants for the position and conducted interviews last week.
Mr Gandolfi said Ben comes with a high level of management experience through his career in the military and private sector.
“Following his 14 year military service in the Royal Australian Airforce, including active service, Ben has held senior management roles with Cobham Aviation Services for the past 14 years. Most recently, he held the position as Senior Vice President – Operations, where he was responsible for the strategic leadership and management of the organisation's global operational functions supporting 140 aircraft across 14 different aircraft fleets.”
Mr Gower said he is looking forward to working with the elected members and staff of the Wattle Range Council in supporting our local community.
Mr Gower has three adult children and will be relocating to Wattle Range with his wife Sally.
