Residents are urged to have their say about the future of shop trading hours in Millicent.
Currently, trading hours at a number of retail outlets in Millicent are restricted by law.
Consultation with the community by the Wattle Range Council on the possible deregulation of shop trading hours will begin with a survey being mailed out soon to Millicent residents who are listed on the State electoral role.
Council is also calling for written submissions from residents outside of Millicent who are Millicent business owners or shop assistants working in the town.
The results of the survey along with any additional comments or feedback received through formal written submissions, will be included in the report compiled for Council consideration to assist the elected members in making an informed decision on the whether it should recommend to the Minister to deregulate the town’s trading hours.
“It is important that Council is thorough in its engagement with the community on the issue of shop trading hours in Millicent,” Council’s Chief Executive Officer Mr Ben Gower said. “All affected parties will be given the opportunity to express their views regarding any proposal to abolish or retain regulated shop trading hours, prior to Council making any recommendation to the Minister.”
Submissions need to be received by Council by 5 pm on Monday, March 27, 2017.
Submissions must be in writing and need to include contact details and a signature. They should be marked “Millicent Shop Trading Hours” and must be addressed to the Chief Executive Officer, Wattle Range Council, PO Box 27, Millicent SA 5280. Alternatively submissions can be forwarded by email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
