Following an extensive tender and selection process, Wattle Range Council has appointed Cleanaway to deliver kerbside waste collection services from this week. Commencing on Wednesday 21 March, Cleanaway will collect general waste and co-mingled recycling from more than 5,000 properties.
Cleanaway will also service more than 200 street litter bins across the district with the assistance of local contractors, Bedfords.
“Cleanaway is an experienced waste management company with knowledge of the Wattle Range area. They have operated the waste transfer stations for a number of years. We are pleased to welcome Cleanaway to the kerbside collection service,” said Director of Engineering Services, Peter Halton.
There are no changes to collection days and as the bins are owned by Council, residents will retain the bins that they already have.
“I am confident that residents will see very little change in their kerbside waste collection. Residents are urged to have their bins out by 6am and be patient if their bin is collected later than usual during the first few weeks,” he said.
The main change for residents will be for customer service. Previously Council has accepted all customer service enquiries, sought the information from the contractor and reported back to the resident. This process will be simplified with Cleanaway taking all customer service enquiries on a dedicated phone number and email address.
“If you have a question about your kerbside waste collection, if you feel that your bin has been missed, or you require repair or replacement of a bin, please contact Cleanaway on 1300 410 896. They will be able to respond to your enquiry in the most efficient way.”
There are no changes to kerbside collection services or waste transfer station hours over Easter.
