Millicent Skate Comp draws crowd

18 October 2018

The Millicent Skate Park was packed last Saturday with the successful running of the YMCA/Skate Australia Skate Park Leagues competition in the region. The event was held over 2 days incorporating a volunteer training day on Friday, 12 October, followed by a full day of competition for all ages on the Saturday.

Supported by Wattle Range Council, more than 500 spectators and competitors witnessed a combination of skate, scooter and BMX events across several categories. Catering was provided by local service clubs.

Wattle Range Council CEO, Ben Gower said, “It was great to see the Millicent Skate Park full of people, young and old, taking in the days’ events in almost perfect weather”.

The event co-ordinators from YMCA/Skate Australia were also impressed with the success of the 2 days, which was reflected in the distance that many of the competitors and spectators had travelled to attend the event, with a number coming from as far afield as Adelaide, Murray Bridge and Portland.
