Thanks to strong community support and significant investment from Wattle Range Council, residents and visitors can once again enjoy a refreshing swim at the Nangwarry Pool.
Upgrade works to the pool surface and chlorine system have been completed and dedicated volunteers have been working on improvements to the amenities and overall look of the site.
“Council listened to the views of the community and their passion for the Nangwarry Pool” explained Wattle Range Council CEO, Ben Gower.
“We have invested in the capital upgrades needed at the site, including repair and rendering of the concrete pool edge, repainting both pools, upgrading the chlorine dosing system and chlorine storage.
“Congratulations to the small group of dedicated volunteers who have invested many hours in painting, cleaning and fundraising to improve the overall look of the facility.
“More than anything, I hope that these efforts are rewarded by high usage of the pool this summer and for many years to come.”
Council closed the facility in 2016 due to low swimmer numbers and safety issues with the chlorine system.
“Even on a 30 degree day, we were only getting a handful of swimmers through the gate. With the improvements to the pool surface, installation of the BBQ, landscaping and provision of tables and chairs, there is so much on offer and I encourage local residents to get behind the community and swim in the pool.”
Further works are also planned to improve the amenity of the Nangwarry Pool, with a new shade structure also on the way.
The general public is invited to the grand re-opening of the Nangwarry Pool on Saturday 10 November from 1pm. The event will honour the individuals, companies and community groups that contributed money and time to the improvements at the facility. Swimmers are encouraged and a free sausage sizzle will be provided. To assist with catering, RSVP’s would be appreciated to email@example.com or by phoning (08) 8739 7276.
The Nangwarry Pool is now open for the swim season on days when the forecast is for 20 degrees and over. Patrons can swim free of charge from 3 - 6pm Monday to Friday and 1 - 6pm on weekends, public holidays and school holidays.
