The Millicent Swimming Lake is turning 50 on 27 January 2019 and Wattle Range Council is hosting a free family fun day to celebrate. The feature of the celebration will be a newly purchased inflatable obstacle course.
Mayor, Des Noll said “We are excited to bring this fantastic new activity to the Wattle Range community as part of the 50th Anniversary celebrations”.
“The Inflatable (obstacle course) is over 20 metres long and includes balance and climbing sections as well as a slide to finish. Lifeguards will supervise the use of the inflatable and patrons will need to pass a swim test to ensure they are safe in deep water” Mr Noll explained.
The free family fun day will run from 11am – 4pm with a treasure trail, live music, jumping castle and cake cutting.
“One of the other highlights will be the video booth” said the Mayor “We are encouraging people to come forward with their stories from when the Lake was first built and share their memories of the Lake over the past 50 years. The video will be shown in Council’s Visitor Information Centres to showcase this unique attraction and what it means to our community.”
The Inflatable will be in use at the Millicent Swimming Lake from 1pm – 4pm daily from Monday 21 to Saturday 26 January as well as during the family fun day.
“In February, we look forward to making the Inflatable available for a weekend at Nangwarry Pool and Penola Pool.”
