Customers are being assured that it will be business as usual when Veolia takes over the supervision of Council's waste facilities from 1 July 2019.
Following a tender process late last year, Veolia will step into the role to replace Cleanaway who have managed the sites since 2012. The contract includes supervision of the sites during public opening hours, as well as transporting waste to the various disposal and processing locations.
“We have been pleased with the standard of service delivered by Cleanaway over the past 7 years, however Veolia offered a saving to Council that could not be passed up” said Council CEO Ben Gower.
“There will be no change to opening hours and the waste voucher system will continue as usual” explained Mr Gower “Cleanaway will continue to deliver the kerbside collection services”.
To assist with the transition between contractors, drumMUSTER containers will not be accepted from 10 June to 1 August 2019. To arrange disposal of approved containers before 10 June, residents are asked to phone Cleanaway on 1300 410 896 to book an appointment. The cut-off for bookings is 6 June 2019. Bookings for August onwards can be made by phoning Veolia on 08 8724 8121 during normal office hours.
“While the waste facilities may look a little different, Veolia are committed to a high level of customer service and there should be little to no impact on customers” Mr Gower said.
Information about waste services will continue to be available on Council’s website, however all customer service enquiries will be handled directly by Veolia rather than Council.
“We ask residents to be patient during the changeover as we work to continue to provide high quality waste services for the district” requested Mr Gower.
