Once again, Council is making it easier for residents to clean up their gardens ahead of this year’s fire danger season by offering free green waste disposal at the waste transfer facilities over the next couple of months.
Residents and ratepayers will be able to dispose of domestic green waste without using a waste voucher at Millicent, Penola and Beachport waste facilities between the 1st of October and the 30th of November 2019.
“Council has found this initiative to be effective in helping the community to reduce the fuel load across our townships in the lead up to the fire season,” Chief Executive Officer, Ben Gower explained. “It provides incentive for property owners to tidy up and be prepared,” he said.
This offer is valid only for loads of approved green waste, including tree limbs and branches, grass clippings and weeds. All other waste types will require a waste disposal voucher to be presented as per usual.
Users of this free service will need to prove their status as a resident or ratepayer of the Wattle Range Council by presenting their driver’s licence or a current rates notice.
For enquires please contact Veolia on 08 8724 8121 during normal office hours.
Residents and community groups are also able to collect garden mulch free of charge in Millicent, Penola and Beachport. Details about our Community Mulch Day dates are available on Council’s website www.wattlerange.sa.gov.au/wasteinitiatives.
