Oversize and Overmass Vehicle Supporting Clearance
Wattle Range Council’s road network facilitates a diverse range of vehicles and vehicle configurations, most of these vehicles are classed as General Access Vehicles (GAV’s). Some vehicles are classed as Restricted Access Vehicles (RAV’s) as they sit outside of defined dimension and/or weight parameters, state and/or National Regulations apply for these RAV’s to travel on certain roads.
Since 2014 most heavy vehicle permits are now issued through the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR), to see if your vehicle permit is now covered by the NHVR please visit their website on https://www.nhvr.gov.au/ , if your vehicle requires a supporting clearance from Council please follow the below process.
There is a 2 step process to obtain approval to access roads within the Wattle Range Council area for vehicles not covered by the NHVR.
- The first step is to apply to Council through an application for supporting clearance for Restricted Access vehicles, this will then be assessed for approval
- The second step after clearance approval is received from Council is to forwarded the clearance to The Department of Planning, Transport & Infrastructure (DPTI) for assessment in order to obtain a permit.
