The Millicent Gallery will host its first exhibition since COVID-19 when three Limestone Coast artists will be exhibiting as part of the statewide South Australian Living Artists (SALA) Festival this year.

The joint exhibition by Andrea Bartetzko, Kirsten Johnston and Ann Carpenter titled: I Am an Artist – An exploration of artistic identity', will be held at the Millicent Art Gallery from August 2 until September 15.

Nationally recognised artist and educator Peter Serwan will open the exhibition on Sunday, August 2nd at 2 p.m.

Ann, Andrea and Kirsten are long-time artistic colleagues and have come together to show works that explore their individual art journeys and their identities as creators. The pieces in the exhibition are enormously varied and include both painting and drawing in many different styles.

Ann Carpenter, a Glencoe resident, professional artist and teacher, has put together a beautiful collection of drawings and paintings. Andrea Bartetzko, Mount Gambier, will be exhibiting her vibrant acrylic works. Kirsten Johnston, also from Mount Gambier, will be showing her ink-on canvas pieces and a portrait installation.

The SALA Festival is held across the state each August and boasts hundreds of venues hosting artists of all types. This is the sixth year the Millicent Art Gallery has participated, hosting a very successful exhibition of textile art and paintings in 2019: ‘The Otherness of Light’.

The Millicent Art Gallery is open Tuesday to Friday 9 a.m. to 5.30 p.m. and Sundays between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m.
