Council is currently consulting the public on a proposal received from a local café proprietor to establish access and outdoor dining from their café directly into the Susan Wilson Memorial Playground in Beachport.
“The proposed access doorway, viewing deck and associated fencing works would require formal approvals under both the Development Act 1993 and the Local Government Act 1999” Council’s Director Development Services, Steve Chapple said.
“Both processes require their own consultation with affected parties. However, in considering the initial details of the proposal at its meeting held on 13 June 2017, Council resolved to seek preliminary comments from the public via community consultation prior to any consideration of in principle support.”
Written submissions to Council regarding the proposal have been invited and will be received by post or email until close of business on Tuesday, 22 August 2017. Additionally, an online survey can be completed on Council’s website and hard copies are also available from any Council office.
A copy of the preliminary plans can be viewed at Council’s Offices or can be downloaded from Council’s website at www.wattlerange.sa.gov.au/haveyoursay.
Council’s Planning Officer, Pete Whiting will be present at the Beachport Visitor Information Centre on Thursday August 17 and Friday August 18 during office hours to discuss the proposal with interested community members and answer any questions they may have.
“The response to the consultation will form part of a report to be presented to Elected Members at the September meeting of Council” Mr Chapple added.
