The Millicent and Surrounds Food Network (MSFN) is a committee formed in collaboration with the Red Cross to address the issues of food insecurity within the Millicent region through community based engagement.
The issue of food insecurity has become increasingly important across Australia with an average of 1 in 3 Australians reporting that they have experienced food insecurity throughout a given year. Food insecurity can take many forms but often is centred around difficulties in physically obtaining food, in nutritious food being available and in the understanding of how to prepare the food.
A key avenue of our community engagement will be holding educational workshops based around food; from growing plants to preparing meals.
In collaboration with the Men’s Shed we are excited to announce the MSFN Working Bee at the community gardens located off Fifth Street, Millicent on 19 January 2020 starting from 10 am.
