Millicent Library and Gallery is proud to announce the launch of the Being Digital program, an exciting new initiative delivered in partnership with Telstra and LibrariesSA to boost digital literacy across South Australia. The program offers free, engaging training sessions designed to help adults build confidence in navigating the digital world, with topics ranging from basic device use and email setup to online safety, social media privacy, and secure online shopping. Participants will also have the opportunity to explore emerging technologies, including AI tools such as ChatGPT and smart home assistants like Alexa and Siri.
The first session, supported by Public Libraries SA digital experts, will be held at the Millicent Library and Gallery on Friday, 19 June at 9.30am.
This introductory workshop, AI in Action: Hands On with the Latest Platforms, provides a practical and beginner‑friendly introduction to today’s most widely used AI tools. Delivered in partnership with Good Things Foundation Australia and LibrariesSA, the session aims to demystify artificial intelligence by showing how people already use AI in everyday life and at work, often without realising it.
Participants will be guided through hands‑on demonstrations of Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude, and Perplexity, learning what each tool is best suited for, from productivity and creative tasks to research and fact‑checking. With a strong focus on digital inclusion, responsible use, and AI literacy, the presentation empowers both library staff and community members to use AI confidently, safely, and effectively.
Library staff describe the program as “a fantastic opportunity for community members to build essential digital skills and feel more confident online,” and encourage anyone interested in strengthening their digital knowledge to attend.
No Bookings are required for the event.
