Arts and Culture

Wattle Range is a culturally rich and diverse community. Council recognises the important role that arts and culture play in the creation of unique, connected, inclusive and culturally engaged communities.

Wattle Range Council has a strong commitment to the arts, including visual arts, music and performance underpinned by a number of Council managed Galleries, Halls, Function Centres and Theatres all available for community use and hire. Across Wattle Range there are also many private and community owned and run galleries and studios further supporting this ethos.

Wattle Range Council Photographic Exhibition

The Wattle Range Council Photographic Exhibition is held annually in the Millicent Gallery, captures the vibrancy and diversity of the Wattle Range Region. Entries must be taken within the Council area and represent our region with an emphasis on People, Places, Business and Industry and Sport and Leisure.

Beginning in 2007 the exhibition has grown over the years into a very popular event that photographers from all over the region are excited about entering. With 10 categories and prize money of over $3000 the exhibition affords all photographers from the professional to the new photographer, the opportunity to showcase their photography and talent. The Exhibition regularly has over 400 photographs entered and with photographers from throughout the region.

Photographs from the exhibition are selected to be published in the Wattle Range Council Calendar which is highly sought after every year. It is a fantastic way to have photographers’ talents put on display.

Images from this exhibition are also used (with the permission of the photographers) in promotional activities for Council such as banners, posters and brochures.
