Wattle Range Council is inviting photographers of all ages and skill levels to capture the people, places and landscapes that make our region unique as part of the 2026 Wattle Range Photographic Competition.

Now in its 19th year, the competition has grown into one of South Australia's leading regional photographic exhibitions attracting more than 450 entries each year and offering over $4,000 in prize money across 11 categories.

In categories won by professional photographers, amateur photography awards will also be presented to recognise and encourage photographers of all experience levels.

Entries close on Monday 21 September 2026.

Photographers are encouraged to submit images celebrating the diversity of Wattle Range. Categories include People, Places, Business & Industry, Sport & Leisure, Nature, Transport & Vehicles and more, with all photographs required to be taken within the Council area.

This year's judging panel includes two representatives from the South Australian Photographic Federation, who will also attend the official presentation evening on Wednesday, 14 October at 7pm, where the Junior category will be awarded first.

Selected photographs may be featured in the 2027 Wattle Range Council Community Calendar, which distributed 5,000 copies last year as well as Council publications, reports and promotional material.

Library and Cultural Services Manager Janice Nitschke said the competition continued to showcase the region through the eyes of local photographers.

"The Wattle Range Photographic Competition highlights the remarkable talent in our region and captures the moments, landscapes and stories that make our communities unique," Ms Nitschke said.

"Whether you're a seasoned photographer or simply enjoy taking photos, we encourage you to enter and share your perspective of Wattle Range."

Entry forms and competition conditions are available from Council’s website www.wattlerange.sa.gov.au/photographiccompetition (where photographers can also upload their photos), from the Millicent Library, or by contacting Janice Nitschke at library@wattlerange.sa.gov.au.
