The Millicent Gallery is set for a busy month of creativity, with a major SALA exhibition opening this week and entries now open for the 2026 Wattle Range Art Exhibition.
Opening on 31 July at 6pm, the SALA exhibition Elemental Forces by the Limestone Coast Art Collective celebrates ten years of the creative group. The exhibition brings together current and former members, showcasing works inspired by the natural forces that shape our world.
The collective meets monthly to inspire, support and challenge one another, exhibiting together for SALA every two years. Current members Carol Baxter, Kerrie Head, Tanya Hunter, Margaret Hage, Julie Ann McEwen, Merryn Marshall and Barbara Martin are joined by past members Sandra Hart, Karen Talanskas and Suzanne Brierley-Westall in this special anniversary exhibition.
Each artist presents their own interpretation of the elemental forces that shape our natural world, exploring themes of beauty, complexity and fragility through painting, printmaking, drawing, ceramics, felt-making, fibre art, textiles and mixed media.
Rich in texture, colour and imagination, Elemental Forces invites visitors to pause, reflect and experience the quiet yet powerful forces that influence our landscapes and our lives.
Visitors can also meet the artists during a series of "Meet the Artist" sessions throughout August and learn more about their creative practices.
Looking ahead, entries are now open for the 2026 Wattle Range Art Exhibition. Now in its 11th year, the exhibition continues to attract artists from across South Australia and beyond, featuring contemporary works in a wide range of styles and mediums.
Entries close on 14 November, artworks must be delivered by 21 November, and the official opening will be held on 27 November.
Last year, several artworks, including the Mayoral Award winner, were acquired for the Wattle Range Council Art Collection and are now displayed in the new Council Service Centre. Council looks forward to expanding the collection further, with selected works to be displayed in public spaces across the region.
