New road name: ‘Euro Drive’, Beachport

Published 18th June 2026
Wattle Range Council has officially assigned the name Euro Drive to the unnamed road leading from Ringwood Drive and Admella Drive, Beachport.

Notice is hereby given that Wattle Range Council, under delegation and in accordance with Section 219(1) of the Local Government Act 1999 (the Act), has assigned the name ‘Euro Drive’ to an unnamed road leading from the corner of Ringwood Drive and Admella Drive, Beachport.

A plan that delineates the road, which is subject to the new road name, is available for inspection at Council’s Service Centre, North Terrace, Millicent during business hours.

The name ‘Euro’ has been assigned to the unnamed road in reference to the Euro shipwreck, which ran aground approximately 3.2 kilometres north‑west of Cape Banks Lighthouse in 1881 while enroute to Beachport.

The name also aligns with other nearby roads that reference local shipwrecks, including Admella Drive and Geltwood Drive in Beachport.

Further information about the Euro and Southern Ocean Shipwrecks can be found on the Department of Environment and Waters website.

Under the Act, a council may assign or change a name to a public or private road, or to a public place.

In early May 2026, Council sought feedback from the community on the proposed name ‘Euro Road’, for the above mentioned road. Following feedback, Council have slightly adjusted the name to ‘Euro Drive’.
