The Southend community gathered in November to begin developing their town vision.

After the successful staging of community forums in the townships of Mount Burr, Southend and Tantanoola in November last year, Wattle Range Council will now be turning to some of its larger communities with the opportunity to develop their community vision.

Millicent, Beachport and Penola will be next in line to share their ideas, when elected members and staff visit next week, to host a barbecue and community forum.

“The aim of the Community Vision Forums is to hear the thoughts and ideas of those living in each town, helping to better guide Council decision making, enhancing community vibrancy, ensuring environmental sustainability, and inspiring innovation,” Mayor, Des Noll explained.

“We were pleased with the turnout at the sessions held in Mount Burr, Southend and Tantanoola late last year and the valuable input from participants resulted in some important priorities being set in these towns.”

“This process is an important tool in ensuring Council can take a strategic approach to implementing community projects, events and initiatives, and I encourage all interested members of the communities included in this next round to come along, have a snag and get involved,” he said.

In addition to discussing the town visions at these sessions, Council’s Planning Officers will be available to provide information and answer questions of landholders potentially affected by the proposed Planning Code Amendments.
